In play Wood and bronze
120 x 150 x 85 cm.
2002
In play originated from an encounter and from confusion.
An encounter with an artistic work consisting of a pile of parquet strips that looked as if it had been blown up. It reminded me of that painting by C. D. Friedrich representing a wrecked ship in the ice. That parquet piece fascinated me most because of the beautiful drawing configured by the broken lines of the field.
The confusion originated in a sports centre: the accumulation of lines delimitating the areas of indoor football, basket and volleyball in the parquet caused a team to lose ball possession.
In play has nothing to do with sports, but it has to do with the game and with confusion. Because ¿aren't we just players in constant vacillation?
